Paola is a marketing professional with a unique blend of expertise in marketing communications, sustainability, intercultural leadership and avalanche safety. Originally from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, she grew up skiing and developed a deep-rooted passion for snow and avalanches. Her adventurous spirit has taken her on skiing expeditions across the globe, from Alaska and Siberia to Chile, Iceland, Japan and beyond. Paola’s hands-on experience as a ski instructor, cat skiing and backcountry ski tail guide, combined with her training from European and Canadian avalanche education programs, gives her a comprehensive understanding of avalanche risk management.

With over a decade of experience leading award-winning marketing campaigns for brands like Arc’teryx, Salewa, and PwC, and her talent for making complex concepts accessible, Paola aims to bring avalanche risk communication to the next level.

Paola joined the SARP Team in the fall of 2024 as a Master’s student, and she is currently in the process of developing her research project, which will examine how recreationsists understand and use modern decision support tools like the  Swiss Skitouren Guru website.
