Meet Nick

Growing up in British Columbia, skiing and other outdoor activities have been in Nick’s life from a young age. He feels extremely privileged to have had generations of family teach him how to respect the mountains and for the ability to study in an environment such as this one. As a ski patroller, Nick is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and helping keep the mountains safe for everyone. Nick has been with SARP since the summer of 2022 when he worked as a research assistant creating yearly avalanche hazard summaries of Western Canada.

Nick's research

Nick joined the SARP Team as a Master’s student in the fall of 2024, and he is currently in the process of defining his research project. He is currently exploring avenues for getting meaningful estimates of participation in winter backcountry recreation activities that expose themselves to avalanche terrain.
