Meet Griffin
Spending his time in a mix of freshwater lakes, boreal forest, prairie, mountains and ocean, Griffin has been very fortunate to explore, study, and grow in more landscapes than he could ever hope to. Every backcountry trip he has been on has motivated him to help make outdoor experiences more accessible and safer for everyone.
Griffin has a diverse background in outdoor education, parks, resource management and environmental planning honed through both hands-on and recent academic experiences. Before joining SARP, he managed the snowshoe trails within Mt Seymour resort, supporting outdoor education programs and connecting people to the winter mountain environment. This provided the perfect background for his research project on avalanche awareness among snowshoers and winter hikers. Since graduating from SARP in the fall of 2024, Griffin works with the BC Parks Foundation contributing to the planning, management, and protection of natural spaces across the province.
Griffin's research
Griffin’s research at SARP focused on understanding snowshoers and winter hikers travelling in avalanche terrain, offering insights into how we might improve awareness of avalanche information products and services and communicate risks to this growing backcountry user group.
